Message from the President

Indonesian Canadian Congress (ICC) is an incorporated community based organization and it was established in 2005.  It is hard to believe that this year we are celebrating tenth anniversary of the organization.

One of the main objectives of ICC is to promote friendship and cultural relations between the people of Indonesia and Canada.  To promote cultural relations, ICC participates in many activities, including Asian Heritage Month celebrated in the month of May and the Tulip Festival.  In the month of May 2011 and 2012 our “Indonesia Night” event at Library and Archive Canada displayed cultural mosaic of Indonesia.  The event drew hundreds of participants. In 2012 and 2013, we also celebrated Multicultural and Canada Day with other organization.

In addition to cultural activities, ICC organizes fund raising activities to support local charities like Ottawa Food Bank as well as internationally to help the victims of disaster such as in the Philippines through their community organization in Ottawa.

In the National Capital Region, Indonesian community is rather small but very active and proud to be Canadian.  I am pleased to see how far we have come and the contributions we have made to the City in particular.  I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those who have helped us to become a vibrant and dynamic part of the Canadian Society in general.

We recognize that we have a long way to go.  Nevertheless, I must indicate that one of the major achievements of ICC is that it has altered the way we think.  Now we think as a community and as a Canadian community.  We are extremely blessed with wonderful hard working members as well as the best volunteers, who always perform above and beyond what is expected in serving the needs of our members and community in general.

We are aspired to make this organization to be the first point of contact for both Indonesian newcomers to Canada, whether they are students or workers, and Canadians who want to learn more about Indonesia.   As a first step, we are working hard to make our website more interactive and informative.  We would appreciate your support and ideas in this regard.

I encourage you to help us achieving our objectives by providing us your ideas and actively participating in our events.  Remember, you can make a difference.  You can help us shape our world for a better future, for our children, and for the next generations to come.

Together, we can make it happen.

ICC President
